My name is Twan and I am a London based costume maker and embroiderer for film and theatre.
I studied Costume Interpretation for Theatre and Screen at Wimbledon College of Arts - University of Arts London, for which I graduated with a First Class honours in 2019.
During my final year I discovered the art of digital machine embroidery. I taught myself how to use the Wilcom software and the embroidery machine, to be able to create my long desired habit à la Française. Since then I have had the opportunity to create embroidery for the Royal Opera House and films such as Disney's The Little Mermaid (2023), Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (Netflix 2023) and Wicked (Universal 2024 and 2025).
Being a trained costume maker and embroiderer makes it easy to collaborate with designers and cutters to create what they need. My machines can be set up in the production workroom, which has the advantage of direct response to the needs of the designer and quick results in sampling. It eliminates shipping time and cost compared to when the work is done outside the workroom. When not digitising embroidery or whilst waiting for the machine to do its printing, I can help sewing costumes in between.
