Jenůfa – Royal Opera House

Project Description

Royal Opera House – Jenůfa

For the new 2021 production of Jenůfa for the Royal Opera House, I was given the opportunity to create embroidery based on a rug designer Gesine Völlm had found. These colourful flowers were used on the backs of the ensemble costumes and scanned in and printed for the hem of the skirts. I also embroidered a daisy which was scanned and printed on the head scarves and on some ribbon for the aprons.

Gesine liked the flowers so much, she also incorporated them into the principal costumes as seen on the second photo. They have been used on the apron and as a decoration around the neckline and also in a scanned and printed version for the skirt, cuffs and head scarf.
